The capacitor difference isn't something to worry about, you will most likely not hear the difference -- maybe once you drive the amp (but that's pretty damn loud, and I doubt you're going to be).

What is the equivalent of your amp in pre 67 circuit design?

If it's still 70 watts, then it can't be a BF transformer, because it's not enough to hand the wattage, so in that case what's the point, you're hardly going to notice a difference. Since then, I bought a bandmaster reverb head, blackfaced it, upgraded the output transformer, and put it in a 1x15 cab...is essentially now a super reverb with a 15" speaker.

I had it completely gone trough top to bottom for 400 including caps, tubes and other parts, and spent another 120 on some celestions for the cab.

I'm totally happy with the sound, and having a virtually brand new 1970 monster fender amp and cab for under a grand.

IMOJust FTR "Ultralinear" does NOT refer to the rectifier in this amp but rather to the output transformer and appropriate circuitry.

As fenders are by far the most commonly collected and played vintage tube amps, he should easily be able to look inside and tell you what has been changed, and then compare that to a pre 64/67 circuit design.

IMO My advice would to first find the best vintage amp guy in your area. Never just believe what someone tells you, especially about "blackfacing" a later 70's fender.

As for the rectifier, some players prefer the stiffer, cleaner SS rectifier and others prefer the "spongier" tube version.

Bottom line - if at all possible you should play it or at least one like it as well as an older one to choose for your5self.
